Ministering as Chaplain

Chaplain Hubbell

First and foremost, I desire to minister to every officer in every unit assigned to my care. What I can offer is an ear to listen, a shoulder to lean on, a word of encouragement, counsel to guide, and a prayer for blessing. To be asked to minister to officers is a great privilege and tremendous responsibility. I don’t take it lightly. It’s true one must earn trust, respect, honor, and the only way to do so is to ride, walk and talk to officers. So it’s my goal to ride out with every officer in the substation for at least a few hours. Don’t panic, I’m not there to preach to you, convert you or straighten you out. Also I might add, I’m not there to spy on you. Remember I am a volunteer, not on any pay roll.

Second, and important for you to know, is that I can and will assist your family with help if I’m able to. It’s sad to see so many officers losing their relationships at home while protecting a city against evil.

Third, my duties will include the total department in general. I will be at graduations, special ceremonies, and of course, in crisis.

My main goal is to one day be called your friend and known as a friend to every officer that wears the uniform, and for them to know me as one that is easily found and always around.

A Privilege & Responsibility...

All conversations with any Chaplain are confidential and protected by Texas State Law. It doesn’t go any further than me, except if I feel you are a danger to yourself or others, I have a moral, ethical and spiritual obligation to seek help on your behalf. I won’t tell you what to do because I don’t live your consequences that will come with every decision you make. There is no financial obligation . Remember, I’m only human, and I won’t have all the answers. Be willing to allow me to follow up on our conversations at a later date. *To receive priority when calling, please identify your association with SAPD.
