JC 10-11

JC 10-11

As cadets enter the academy to begin training to become a sworn officer of the law, undoubtedly they will gain many resources that will potentially save their lives; a gun, handcuffs, maze, nightstick or baton, flashlight, bulletproof vest, radio and many hours of instruction. One of the greatest of these resources received during instruction is the "10 codes", most important among them "10-11." The 10 codes are a set of messages used in radio communications to express the needs of the officer or dispatcher. "10-11" is the call for backup or cover. No one resource is as valuable as having someone there to watch your back or give you cover.

So it is in the life of a Christian. Like an officer out of the academy, when we as believers step into the family of God we are given tools to stand in this world. Ephesians 6:11 (NIV) says, "Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. Again 2 Corinthians 10:4 (KJV) says, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds." We daily suit up for the battle and are given tools like the Word and prayer to fight the good fight; yet, like these officers we need someone to watch our backs as it were to cover us as the assault mounts. We are given that in Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is our "10-11" or back up. Isaiah 52:12 (NIV) says, "But you will not leave in haste or go in flight; for the LORD will go before you, the God of Israel will be your rear guard." And also in Isaiah 58:8b (NIV) "then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

When we submit ourselves to God and walk in his righteousness, we can rest in the promise that He (the Holy one of Israel) is faithful to have our back. Psalm 7:10 says, "My defense is of God, which saves the upright in heart."

Can you stand in confidence that Jesus is your 10-11? Has he got your back? Have you ever placed your trust in Him as your Savior and Lord? If not, Romans 10:13 reminds us that "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." So call on Him today and walk in the confidence that Jesus Christ has your back. JC 10 - 11
